Day 6: Blackrock – Kilkeel

After spending an absolutely lovely night in the great company of Charlie and Margaret McCarthy, it was up and at it again on Day 6 of my journey.

Heading out from Blackrock

The Fire fighters were ready to give me a send off I wouldn’t forget. The weather was dry at least and the wind not as bad as the previous days.

From Lordship to Greenore Ferry Port

When we got to Lordship, the Greenore Coastguards under the command of James Larkin were brilliant and made a wonderful sight. They escorted us from Lordship with the  two Coastguard jeeps and made sure I made it safe and sound to the ferry. Melanie Hearty also ran with me, when we got to Lordship, we stopped for tea and scones at The Station House, the owner Elaine sponsored the coffee.

Carlingford Ferry

During the day I also had an interview with BBC Radio Ulster which was once again organised by my amazing support team.

After the ferry I only had another 8K to go to reach my destination Kilkeel, on the ferry I was given a warm reception and even a cup of tea. My hosts for tonight will be Robbie and Laura Marsh, looking forward to another night of great hospitality.

Stats for today:

Departed Blackrock @ 9am. Arrived Kilkeel @ 3.30pm.

Distance Today: 30.7 miles or 49 km

Distance Travelled To Date: 160 miles or 258 km
